MEET THE TEAM
Prior to Millennial, Tal was a Managing Director at Lone Star Funds spending five years in their London and New York offices. Before Lone Star Tal worked for JER Partners. Over the course of his career Tal has led the acquisitions of over $20 billion of real estate assets, loans and companies including Jurys Inn, Anglo Irish’s US loan book and Wereldhave’s US division.
Tal’s responsibilities have included sourcing, structuring and executing deals across a spectrum of product types and geographies, including the United States, Central and South America and Europe. Tal has served on the boards of various hotel, retail, office and manufacturing companies and is currently a board member of the Milwaukee Valve Company, a leading valve manufacturer.
Tal received his undergraduate degree from Georgetown University having double majored in Finance and Accounting, which included business studies at Trinity College at Oxford University. Tal holds an MBA from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
Prior to Millennial, Derek spent over ten years in the real estate principal investing business in a variety of roles within Lehman Brothers Global Real Estate Group, JER Partners' U.S. Fund Business and, most recently, Morgan Stanley’s Real Estate Investment Group where he was responsible for new investments across all property types throughout the capital structure for the opportunistic (MSREF) and core (Prime Property) funds. During his career, he has acquired, asset managed and restructured more than $25 billion of real estate transactions.
Derek earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with a concentration in Business from Northwestern University including studies at the London School of Economics and was also a four-year member of the Varsity Soccer team.
Prior to Millennial, Jonathan was a Managing Director for Kennedy Wilson in Beverly Hills where he oversaw acquisitions in a number of west coast markets. Before Kennedy Wilson, Jonathan spent 10 years working for Walton Street Capital and left as a principal in the fund's acquisition group. Over the course of his career, Jonathan has led the acquisition and financing of over $2 billion of transactions in primary markets around the United States.
Jonathan's responsibilities have included creating sound acquisition strategy within his coverage markets, sourcing, structuring and executing deals with a focus on commercial properties in the United States. Jonathan has worked extensively with operating partners in joint venture relationships and has been responsible for sourcing and implementing platform investments with operators to pursue a specific investment thesis or geographic territory.
Jonathan received his undergraduate degree with honors from The University of Wisconsin having majored in Real Estate and Urban Land Economics. Jonathan is a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) where he sits on an IOPC council; is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC); sits on the Chicago Children's Museum Metropolitan Board and participates in numerous volunteer activities including Chicago "LIGHTS" Tutoring.
Jim joined Millennial Partners in November 2015.
Jim has worked in commercial real estate since 1994. Most recently, he was an SVP and Partner at Lone Star Funds where he oversaw the acquisition of over $1 billion of debt and equity investments in the U.S.
Prior to joining Lone Star, Jim was a Director at Gramercy Capital Corp. where he headed a 6- person deal team that originated approximately 30 transactions, consisting primarily of middle market bridge and construction loans.
Jim has held origination and underwriting positions at ORIX Capital Markets, Hudson Advisors, Archon Group and Fairfield Residential. Jim obtained his B.A. from Texas Christian University.
Alex joined Millennial Partners in September 2015.
Prior to joining Millennial Partners, Alex worked in the Capital Markets division at Cushman & Wakefield in Montreal.
A native of Canada, Alex graduated Cum Laude from McGill University where he received a BA with a concentration in Economics and Political Science. He also obtained an LLB from Brierley Price & Prior in London, England, and received his Masters from the University of Miami Law School in International Law with a focus on real estate.
